Your Rights and Protections Against Surprise Billing

Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) explaining how much your medical or mental health care may cost. This estimate applies to clients who do not use insurance, are uninsured, or choose self-pay for services.

Treatment for OCD and anxiety can vary. Frequency and duration depend on your goals, progress, and clinical needs. The examples below illustrate weekly treatment; they are not a prescribed schedule or a promise of how long treatment will take.

Example Estimates:

4 weeks of weekly 53-minute sessions: $1,000

12 weeks

12 weeks of weekly 53-minute sessions: $3,000

12-week plan with intake + weekly 53-minute sessions:

Intake: $275

12 sessions at $250 each: $3,000

Total estimated cost: $3,275

Your actual estimate will be tailored to your treatment plan and provided in writing before your first session.

Your Good Faith Estimate may include:

  • Intake assessment
  • Individual therapy sessions

It does not include services you choose to obtain outside of Whatif Therapy (e.g., lab tests, medications).

Your Right to a Written Estimate

Your Right to a Written Estimate

  • You have the right to receive a GFE at least 1 business day before your first scheduled service.
  • You may also request an estimate at any time, even if you’re not scheduling a service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
